Bob Spider Getts says
I send my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Larry’s wife, Jeanne, his brother, Bob, and to other family members. Larry was a wonderful high school friend who could play a great game of baseball, while also cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs. I’ll miss his always cheery greeting “Hi Spider”–a name he bestowed upon me in the early 1950s. His loved ones are blessed to have had this fine man in their lives for many years.

High school memories often dim as the years pass, but Larry left an indelible impression on all who knew him. He was one of the nicest boys/men I’ve known, with a rich and wicked sense of humor and possessed such great warmth. He was the nicest of the nice guys, and memories of him always brought a smile to my face. I send my sympathies for your loss; you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Larry was my best friend in highschool and I am ashamed I didn’t keep up with him over the years. I finally got up with him a couple of years before the last reunion and was going to go with him to the big party, but something came up and we couldn’t make it. I have often thought of him and the good ol times we had. Racing his 53 merc against my 48 chev, wow, chasing girls(that we couldn’t catch) and playing baseball all summer. I wish I could have been with him one last time.

Jeanne,
I feel so bad that I could not make Larry’s Memorial Service. I will miss him and his quirky wonderful sense of humor. He was always such a good friend, always very supportive to me and I, as you know, enjoyed working with him so very much. Everyone loved him at IPL and he will truly be missed. I have made a donation to the Humane Society in Larry’s name.
Your friend, Dee
